Navy veteran Lindsey Sin appointed as CalVet secretary, department's 1st woman to serve in role

KCRA News California's Department of Veterans Affairs has a new leader, and she's a trailblazer. Secretary Lindsey Sin is the first woman to serve at the cabinet level for CalVet.
When you walk into her new office, one of the first photos you notice is a black and white portrait of her maternal grandfather, Donald Naylor, who served in the United States Navy during World War II. At the time the photo was taken, the navy sailor couldn't have known it would even be possible for his granddaughter to earn a seat in CalVet's big office.
