Why The US Navy Is Once Again Building Frigate Warships? #shorts

In April 2020, the U.S. Navy announced that it would bring back the frigate, a class of warship that had not been in service since the last Oliver Hazard Perry class frigate was decommissioned in 2015. The new frigate is known as the FFGX, or more accurately, the Constellation-class frigates. With a particular emphasis on anti-submarine warfare, surface warfare, and air protection, these types of ships will be more contemporary and capable than their predecessor. The new Constellation class ships come in at 496 feet long and will displace 7,300 tons. By design, the frigate’s size and weight specifications are intended to fit between littoral combat ships and DDG 51 destroyers. The decision to bring back the frigate was not made lightly; it was based on a combination of factors, including the changing global security environment, advances in technology, and the need for a more versatile and cost-effective warship. While the frigates are not being built with the kinds of armaments used on destroyers, they will still be armed with heavy weapons, Aegis radar, and missile-launching vertical launch systems. Another factor that has contributed to the decision to bring back the frigate is advances in technology. The new FFG-X frigate will incorporate the latest advances in radar, sonar, and weapon systems, making it a more capable and versatile warship.
