I have come back to Godstone in Surrey for a Look around Church Town. I finally get to look inside St Nicholas Church which dominates this small Area and is where James Evelyn (of the Famous Evelyn Family) built a Memorial Chapel in 1787 which has the Tombs of Sir John and Lady Evelyn. Sir George Gilbert Scott's Restoration of the Church in 1872–3 involved widening of the Chancel Arch and also at this time, Scott designed St Mary's Almshouses and Chapel next to the Church for Mrs Mabel Hunt of Wonham House. I also re-visit The Smugglers Grave, tell the Tale of the two 'Plague Pits' in Bullbeggars Lane and have Lunch back at The White Hart.
