Fireflies are a summer tradition in Japan. Fireflies can only live where there is clean water. Though you could see fireflies everywhere long time age, it got difficult to see them because of the polluted environment. However, in recent years, thanks to improvements in water quality, they have returned some area. We want to maintain the environment so that we can see them for a long time. Filmed in "Home of the Firefly" in Sakura city, Chiba, Japan.

生息地域が減っている蛍ですが、地域を挙げての環境整備のおかげで、戻ってきているところもあるようです。千葉県佐倉市のほたるの里で撮影しました。こんな都市近郊に里山が残っていて蛍が生息していることに驚きました。
