SABC News As US President Joe Biden heads to the Middle East later today, the United Nations is describing the situation unfolding in Gaza as an "utter catastrophe". Biden will visit Tel Aviv and Amman, Jordan tomorrow in an effort to demonstrate Washington's solidarity with Israel's response to the attack by Hamas. His visit comes as Gaza is buckling under heavy bombardments and a siege resulting in a lack of humanitarian aid - with growing concerns that the conflict could spread regionally. All this, as the UN Security Council last night failed to adopt a resolution calling for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza over concerns that it didn't explicitly condemn the actions of Hamas.
