Mombasa Maize Millers are the largest millers
of maize and wheat in Kenya, producing both
maize and wheat flour under the Taifa and
Ndovu brands, and animal feeds under the
brand name Faida Feeds.
Mombasa Maize Millers started with a single
small maize mill in Mombasa and has since
grown to become the largest miller of maize
and wheat in Kenya, with mills located in various
towns including Mombasa, Nairobi, Nakuru,
Kisumu and Kitale.
Mombasa Maize Millers produces maize flour
under the Taifa and Ndovu brands, including:
- Taifa Maize Meal, also known as Taifa Sima;
- Ndovu Maize Meal, also known as Ndovu
Sima;
and
- Chenga ya Taifa, which are maize grits for
making a dish known as ʻmchele wa mahindiʼ.
Taifa and Ndovu brand wheat flours include:
- All-purpose home baking flour, also known
as Ngano ya Taifa and Ndovu Ngano, which
are both suitable for making most wheat flour
products usually prepared at home;
- Chapatti flour, especially for making Chapatti;
- Self-rising Flour, used for making cakes;
- Atta Mk 1, a finely ground wheat flour;
and
- Bakersʼ Flour, specifically made for
bread production in commercial bakeries.
Mombasa Maize Millers also produce a wide
range of animal feeds under the brand name
“Faida Feeds” that have grown in popularity
in recent years.
Since the inception of the business, Mombasa
Maize Millers have won many accolades but

A major new development that has impacted
the milling industry in Kenya is the requirement
by the Ministry of Health that all maize flour,
wheat flour and cooking oil should be fortified
