Things that make you say, “Huh?”. It’s no surprise that the disciples looked up as Jesus ascended, says Pastor Mariellen Yoshino – they were probably surprised and confused. They (and we) had come to know Jesus in many ways: teacher, healer, friend, crucified martyr, resurrected miracle, and then visiting with them for 40 days after Easter. But in this new way of knowing Jesus, He becomes one with our awesome God – in the original sense of the word! When we look up, it’s not into emptiness, but to our awesome God. Jesus is not limited by our earthbound understanding, nor is our ability to move in faith and power through our awesome Christ and Father. Our Ascension Sunday scriptures are Luke Chapter 24, verses 44-53 and Acts Chapter 1, verses 10-11.
