This music video features images and music of the fictional place, Shangri-la, described in Hilton's novel, "Lost Horizons". There is now a place in China that changed its name to Shangri-la. It did so because several of the region's features bear a resemblance to things described in "Lost Horizons". Described in the novel are the Blue Moon Mountain and the Blue Moon Mountain Valley which are the mythical location of Shangri-la. I think you can figure out why the mountain scenes are prominent in my video. As for the existence of Shangri-la, I have to agree with the founder of the Shangri-la Craft Brewery in which he says, "...you will not find your Shangri-la as a geographical location. Its the Shangri-la in you". As for me, each of us has our own version of what Shangri-la is. If Shangri-la does not exist in your heart, you will never find it no matter where you go.
I have used videos, photos and musical sounds that capture the spirit and meaning of Shangri-la. They also try to replicate the physical description in the both the novel and 1937 movie entitled, "Lost Horizons". As you watch this video, I hope you appreciate the China Disabled People's Performing Art Troupe who perform the Thousand Hand Dance. The dance is spectacular but what makes this amazing is that these girls are all deaf.
P.S. I think you will be surprised to know there is a beer called Shangri-la beer. The story of the founder, his brewery(Shangri-la Highland Craft Brewery,) and his efforts to improve the lives of the people in the area is fascinating and worth viewing on Youtube.
