Vulkanausbruch in Manizales (Kolumbien) 😳

casual backpacker Holprige Fahrt von Medellin nach Manizales. Perfekt für einen Städtetrip und Wandern im PNN Los Nevados!
Ja, mal wieder fast einen ganz Tag im Bus gesessen. Das kann auch Kolumbien sein: Stau ohne Ende. Aber kein Wunder, wie die alle fahren :D Erleichtert kommen wir so erst sehr spät in unserer Unterkunft nahe Manizales an. Am nächsten Tag lassen wir die wunderschön gelegene Unterkunft und die Stadt auf uns wirken. Einfach toll!
Eigentlich wollten wir hier bis Salento wandern. Aber da es Lena nicht so gut geht entscheiden wir uns kurzfristig für einen normalen Tagesausflug, wo es auf immerhin 4400 Höhe geht!
Manizales als Stadt hat laut den Reiseführern nicht so viel zu bieten. Dem können wir aber nicht so richtig zustimmen. Klar, die klassischen Sehenswürdigkeiten gibt es nicht. Aber dafür hat die Stadt ihren ganz eigenen Spirit! Die Normalität hier gefällt uns.
Ein Highlight gibt es dann doch: die höchste Kathedrale des Landes!
Ganz spontan gehen wir in einer Führung auf den Turm. So eine Aussicht mitten in der Stadt, umgeben von Bergen: einmalig!
Anschließend geht es weiter nach Salento. Aber zu früh gefreut: wir machen einen Stopp in Perreira, wo wir die Kaffeefarm Don Manolo besuchen.
Wir bekommen eine super interessante Führung durch die Farm, viele Informationen über die Geschichte des Kaffees in Kolumbien und allgemein zur Herstellung der Bohnen bis hin zur Röstung.

Yes, once again sat on the bus for almost a whole day. That can also be Colombia: traffic jams without end. But no wonder how they all drive :D Relieved, we arrive very late at our accommodation near Manizales. The next day we let the beautifully situated accommodation and the city sink in. Just great!
Actually we wanted to hike here to Salento. But since Lena is not doing so well, we decide at short notice for a normal day trip, where it goes to at least 4400 altitude!
Manizales as a city doesn't have that much to offer according to the guidebooks. But we can't really agree with that. Of course, there are no classic sights. But the city has its very own spirit! We like the normality here.
There is one highlight after all: the highest cathedral in the country!
We spontaneously go on a guided tour up the tower. Such a view in the middle of the city, surrounded by mountains: unique!
Then it's on to Salento. But excited too soon: we make a stop in Perreira, where we visit the coffee farm Don Manolo.
We get a super interesting tour of the farm, lots of information about the history of coffee in Colombia and in general about the production of the beans and roasting.
Sí, una vez más me senté en el autobús durante casi un día entero. Eso también puede ser Colombia: atascos sin fin. Pero no me extraña como conducen todos :D Aliviados, llegamos muy tarde a nuestro alojamiento cerca de Manizales. Al día siguiente, dejamos que el hermoso alojamiento y la ciudad se asimilaran. ¡Simplemente genial!
En realidad, queríamos caminar aquí a Salento. Pero como a Lena no le está yendo tan bien, decidimos con poca anticipación hacer un viaje de un día normal, ¡donde va a por lo menos 4400 de altitud!
Manizales como ciudad no tiene mucho que ofrecer según las guías. Pero realmente no podemos estar de acuerdo con eso. Por supuesto, no hay vistas clásicas. ¡Pero la ciudad tiene su propio espíritu! Nos gusta la normalidad aquí.
Después de todo, hay un punto culminante: ¡la catedral más alta del país!
Espontáneamente hacemos una visita guiada a la torre. Tal vista en medio de la ciudad, rodeada de montañas: ¡única!
Luego sigue hacia Salento. Pero emocionado demasiado pronto: hacemos una parada en Perreira, donde visitamos la finca cafetalera Don Manolo.
Obtenemos un recorrido súper interesante por la finca, mucha información sobre la historia del café en Colombia y en general sobre la producción de los granos y el tostado.
