Before Muhammad the writings of several prophets were preserved that today would be considered Arab. These are the words of Agur (Proverbs 30) and King Lemuel (Proverbs 31), both from the Ishmaelite tribe of Massa. There is also the Book of Job (#Ayoub), Job possibly being the same as Jobab mentioned in the geneologies. The book also contains that sayings of Eliphaz, Job’s friend. The prophet Obadiah (this has the same meaning as Abdullah in Arabic) is traditionally regarded as being a descendent of Eliphaz. These scriptures are certainly preserved as much any Jews still recite Proverbs 31 on a weekly basis on Erev Shabbat as a blessing over their wives. Is it possible that the original Proverbs 31 woman was an Arab?
