Ashmolean Museum Pio Abad has been shortlisted for the Turner Prize 2024 for his Ashmolean NOW exhibition entitled To Those Sitting in Darkness, which features new drawings and objects by the London-based artist and is open in Oxford until 8 September 2024. Go behind the scenes with this exhibition film.
In this video, artist Pio Abad (b.1983) talks to Lena Fritsch, the Ashmolean Museum's curator of Modern and Contemporary Art, about his Ashmolean NOW exhibition To Those Sitting in Darkness. Deeply informed by the history of the world and particularly the Philippines, where Abad was born and raised, his works draw out transnational lines between historical incidents and people, and our lives today.
The Ashmolean NOW exhibition is open until 8 September 2024 in Gallery 8 on the Museum's lower ground floor.
