Phil Mickelson has received the most attention recently for his ongoing dispute with golf commentator Brandel Chamblee. Many turns, twists, and wordplay have been observed in the evolving tale; during the previous few weeks, what might have provoked a conflict between the great Phil Mikelson and Chanblee? Let's get started.
Phil Mickelson, one of the faces of the Saudi-backed LIV Golf Tour, continues disparaging Brandel Chamblee of the Golf Channel. These two individuals had traded insults on Twitter since the PGA Championship at Oak Hill when LIV golfer Brooks Koepka won the Wanamaker Trophy.
This back-and-forth eventually caused Chamblee to block Mickelson on social media, but it didn't stop Lefty from criticizing the long-time Golf Channel pundit. Then, in late May, Lisa Cornwell, a former Golf Channel journalist, published her memoir "Troublemaker," which describes the network's sexist atmosphere.
She explains the poisonous atmosphere she was in and how she sought to resist it in her book, giving her the moniker "troublemaker." Cornwell even devoted an entire chapter on Chamblee, who she claims contributed to the hostile workplace. On The Golf Podcast: Tucker Booth, who co-wrote Cornwell's biography, brands Chamblee a "nasty bully" for his actions and manner.
"You have to hold people accountable," Cornwell stated in an interview with The Golf Podcast. "That's what I'm attempting with this book." These are shocking acquisitions, but Booth confirmed them with multiple people aware of the issue, and everything "checks out."
Hold on just a bit; if these accusations have been going on for a long time, why are you just hearing about it? Lisa Cornwell got tired of all the garbage Chamblee has been dishing out to too many people. Of course, anyone would be because those traits are not ones to be seen or heard of in a professional setting, hence why it carries so much weight now.
Plus, being in a world where equality and fair treatment is being pushed and preached about constantly, it is shocking that someone as exposed and educated as Chamblee has yet to decide to fall short of the standard regardless of all the public enlightenment going around for years.
