Vaccine Eligibility Expands to New Yorkers Ages 16 and Over: De BlasioBloomberg Quicktake: Now New Yorkers over the age of 16 can sign up for the coronavirus vaccine starting Tuesday. That's a dramatic expansion of eligibility as the state seeks to immunize as many people as possible.
Teens aged 16 and 17 will be limited to receiving the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, since that's the only one authorized for use by people under 18.
New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio said Tuesday the new age limit simplifies the city's mass vaccination effort.
