Ramadan has gone by in a flash. How do we maintain the beautiful spirit and lessons of Ramadan throughout the year? Dr. Shabir Ally and Dr. Safiyyah Ally say that Ramadan serves as a training period for engaging in good practices like fasting, which are beneficial not only during Ramadan but should also be continued afterward. Dr. Shabir suggests fasting on specific days recommended in Islamic tradition, such as six days in Shawwal and the white days each month, to extend the benefits of Ramadan. He also highlights the importance of engaging with the Quran consistently, not just during Ramadan, and maintaining a routine of prayers, charity, and other virtuous deeds. Dr. Safiyyah suggests that we should measure our progress in enhancing our spiritual state by how much we've improved between Ramadans.
