YOU’RE ENCOURAGED TO WEAR RED ON SUNDAY, MAY 7
While many people think of Cinco de Mayo on the 5th of May, today is also MMIW Day. MMIW stands for “Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women.” Our church denomination, the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, has put together pages and pages of resources about the MMIW crisis. When a number of Our Saviour’s members had an opportunity to chat with the Director of Indigenous Ministries & Tribal Relations for the ELCA last month, he encouraged us to participate in MMIW Awareness Month, and to pick a Sunday for worshipers to wear red to church. So, you are encouraged to wear red this Sunday, May 7th (for MMIW) and again on May 28th (Pentecost Sunday).
