Jason Day Set to Shock the Golfing World with a Stunning Return to World #1
Can Jason Day bounce back in 2023 and shock the world of golf by making a charge to become the world’s top ranked male professional golfer again? Jason Day has been ranked as the best golfer three different times, most recently between March of 2016 and February of 2017, a period of time that lasted for more than 47 weeks.
Jason Day has plunged in the rankings over the last several years and hasn’t been as competitive as he was when he was battling for wins on a regular basis. Now he has admitted to the public that he has set a lofty goal of becoming the world’s top-ranked golfer again in the future. Day admitted that he believes that continuous hard work could eventually lead him back towards the top of the world rankings, but even Jason realizes that it could take a long time to get back to that position.
This is an Australian golfer who hasn’t won on the PGA Tour in a very long period of time. HIs last professional win on the PGA Tour came at the Wells Fargo Championship in 2018, where he defeated fellow competitors Aaron Wise and Nick Watney by two strokes to win. Fast forward about five years and here we are in 2023, where Jason Day started the season outside of the top 100 ranked golfers on the leaderboard for the Official World Golf Rankings.
With a dozen wins on the PGA Tour since his professional career started, Jason Day has picked up tournament victories in some of the most prestigious tournaments on the schedule. He has previously scored victories in events like the Players Championship and the PGA Championship, which is currently his only major championship victory. He also has a couple of wins at the Farmers Insurance Open, where he won in a playoff both times.
But what key indications are suggesting that Jason Day could once again make a charge to become the world’s best golfer? In terms of scoring average, Jason Day is playing very consistently with a regular scoring average well under 70. His consistency has placed him in the top 5 in terms of performance through the 2023 season to date.
The increased level of performances comes after years of trying to overcome injuries and swing issues that plagued his game and harmed his ability to remain consistent. Now in 2023, Jason Day has made the necessary adjustments to heal and overcome the obstacles that were holding him back from playing consistent and competitive golf on a weekly basis.
