The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the suspension of ongoing rerun elections in specific constituencies and polling units due to disruptions and irregularities. Sam Olumekun, INEC National Commissioner, disclosed this information amid the ongoing process in 26 states and 80 local governments across the affected areas. The affected regions include Ikono/Ini Federal Constituency in Akwa Ibom State, where elections in two units were suspended due to the carting away of all election materials by hoodlums.

In Enugu State, elections were suspended in all eight polling units of Enugu South 1 State Constituency, where original result sheets were unavailable for inspection by voters before polls commenced. Additionally, in Kunchi/Tsanyawa State Constituency, Kano State, all 10 polling units in Kunchi LGA were affected due to invasion, vandalism, and disruption by thugs.

In Plateau State, Nyam Gai, the Commissioner for Lands, Survey, and Town Planning, accused INEC of compromising the election process. Meanwhile, the Resident Electoral Commissioner in Enugu State, Chukwuemeka Chukwu, confirmed the indefinite suspension of the rerun in Enugu South Urban.

Despite these challenges, INEC has initiated the counting and collation of rerun election results across states where elections were concluded. These reruns and by-elections covered 80 Local Government Areas (LGAs) across 26 states of the federation, aiming to fill vacancies in senatorial districts, federal, and state constituencies.

News Central's Chizoba Anionwe reported a high level of voter apathy in the Plateau North Senatorial Zone, with several polling units experiencing low voter turnout. The electoral officers and security operatives were present to ensure a smooth process. In Surulere Federal Constituency 1, Lagos State, low voter turnout characterised the just-concluded by-election, with residents citing inadequate information about the election.

Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, addressed Nigerians after casting his vote, assuring them that the benefits of fuel subsidy removal would be realised soon. He attributed economic hardship to fundamentals missed by past administrations and urged Nigerians to support the president's efforts in addressing security challenges. Voting has concluded in Lagos State, with the collation of election materials underway.
