Anger is a powerful emotion that can both inspire and destroy. It comes naturally when we perceive injustice, pain or threat. It is a natural human response.
Yet, when left unchecked, anger can easily spiral out of control. Whether it's simmering resentment, sudden outbursts, or a constant critical spirit, unresolved anger can damage our relationships, our physical health, and our spiritual well-being.
Yet God's Word reminds us that we do not have to be slaves to our anger. As the people of God, we are called to a higher standard. We are to "be slow to speak and slow to become angry" (James 1:19), for uncontrolled anger "does not bring about the righteous life that God desires" (James 1:20).
Through the power of the Holy Spirit, we can learn to acknowledge our anger, understand its root causes, and surrender it to the Lord. In doing so, we open ourselves to His healing, His peace, and His redemptive work in our lives.
Let us come before Him now, ready to lay down our anger and rage at the foot of the cross.
