May 1st in the UK marks the beginning of Summer but also celebrates the International Workers' Day.

The 1st of May is known as “May Day” and traditionally involves dancing around a May Pole, crowning a May Queen, Morris Dancing.

The Maypole is a a wooden pole, about 3-5 metres tall, decorated with ribbons and flowers, used as a symbol by different cultures.

Back in the Middle Ages the Gaelic people of Scotland and Ireland celebrated the festival of “Beltane”, which means “Day of Fire”.
