New Yorker Peter Bernstein is considered the world's leading modern jazz guitarist. He received piano lessons from the age of eight and switched to the guitar at the age of 13, initially teaching himself the instrument. He studied jazz at Rutgers University with Ted Dunbar and Kenny Barron and graduated from The New School in New York City, where he met Jim Hall, with whom he played at the 1990 JVC Jazz Festival. From that year he also played as a sideman for Lou Donaldson. He has also played with Joshua Redman, Melvin Rhyne, Diana Krall, Jimmy Cobb, Lee Konitz, Roy Hargrove, Tom Harrell, Joe Lovano, Jack McDuff, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Brad Mehldau, Christian McBride, Mike LeDonne, Ben Paterson or Steve Davis. To date, Bernstein has been involved in more than 60 CD recordings and has played at numerous festivals and concerts. He is particularly well known for his long-standing organ trio with Larry Goldings and Bill Stewart.
On this tour, Bernstein will be accompanied by the fantastic Parisian pianist Olivier Hutman, who has been working on stylistically diverse projects since his studies at the National Conservatory of Music in St. Maur: in the pop area with artists such as Henri Salvador, Charles Aznavour and Yves Montand and of course in the jazz area Greats like Pepper Adams, Art Farmer, Clark Terry, Harry "Sweets" Edison, James Moody, Michel Legrand, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Stephane Grapelli, Frank Wess, Clifford Jordan, Steve Grossman, Tom Harrell, Roy Hargrove and many more. a.
Bernstein and Hutman are joined by one of Europe's most renowned bass-drum duos. Aldo Zunino has been one of the most booked bassists in Europe for more than three decades and has worked with Jimmy Cobb, Clark Terry, Benny Bailey, Benny Golson, Lee Konitz, Joey De Francesco, Scott Hamilton and many more. m. The Austrian drummer Bernd Reiter has already accompanied many jazz greats such as Don Menza, Charles Davis, Harold Mabern, Cyrus Chestnut, Kirk Lightsey, Jim Rotondi, Joe Magnarelli, Gary Smulyan and many more. m.
