In part 1 of the 7 parts series on the Introduction to Dogmatic Theology we look at the concept and object of theology. First we etymologically define what theology means. On the object of theology we make a distinction between material object and formal object of theology. For the material object of theology we find that the object of this category is God and created things as related to God. For the formal object of theology we find that it comprises both the natural theology and supernatural theology. In natural theology we explain God through the light of natural reason, and in supernatural theology we explain God with the aid of divine revelation.
