Gianno Viano "Maleficent" ist der Name der bösen Fee aus Disneys "Dornröschen"-Klassiker. Maleficent ist eigentlich von Grund auf gut, aber durch die Taten der Menschen verliert sie das Gute in sich und gilt fortan als böse Fee.
In diesem Musikvideo dient Maleficent jedoch lediglich als Analogie zum Menschen. Wie bereits der bedeutende Schriftsteller Jean-Jacques Rousseau schrieb, ist der Mensch von Grund auf gut. Sein Umfeld und die Handlungen anderer Menschen beeinflussen den Charakter leider oft zum Negativen. Genau damit setzt sich dieser gesellschaftskritische Song auf der lyrischen Ebene auseinander, während das Böse auf der visuellen Ebene versucht, den Menschen in seinen Bann zu ziehen, erscheint auch das Gute in Form eines Engels und zeigt, dass das Gute stärker als das Böse ist. Nun ist es an jedem selbst... lasst stets das Gute in euch siegen!
