Sierra Leone’s anti-corruption fight has reignited concerns over unequal justice, with contrasting treatment of teachers, opposition parties, and fair treatment involving SLPP members government officials embroiled in scandals.
This week, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) confirmed Sunday that it was investigating Parliament Clerk Hon. Paran Umar Tarawally and his wife, Abibatu, over allegations of her ghost employment and salary collection. The general public is concerned and questions the effectiveness of the ACC when it involves its own party members.
For example, in the 2019 incident, four teachers caught in exam malpractice were publicly paraded in handcuffs with placards at the iconic Cotton Tree, facing jeers and humiliation, compared to Parliament Clerk Hon. Paran Umar Tarawally and his wife, who posted bail and are currently back working as usual. @followers
