ABC News (Australia) Australia’s population has hit 27 million people, years earlier than some predictions.
Back in 2002, the Howard government predicted the population wouldn’t hit 25 million until 2042, but now Australia has already hit 27 million people, 18 years earlier.
Experts say there have been closer predictions in recent years and that the migration numbers are heightened off the back of COVID.
