Emmanuel Macron's recent visit to China made world headlines after his explosive remarks that clearly implied France would not support America should Beijing invade Taiwan.
Moreover his advocacy for so-called "Strategic Autonomy" has been widely perceived as attempting to distance continental Europe from the United States militarily. Meanwhile China's Ambassador to France even sought to delegitimise the very existence of states formerly occupied by the Soviet Union.
Crispin provides his analysis on the situation, arguing that much of this is driven by Macron's person antipathy towards Anglo countries, warning that the Baltic and Ukraine will not be able to count on French support in perpetuity.
