The arrests of Ubed Khan and Jitender Saini on May 27 in connection with an attempted abduction of a 14-year-old girl escalated into a contentious situation when right-wing groups labeled it as a 'love jihad' conspiracy. This labeling led to violent protests in Purola, including attacks on Muslim-owned shops. Subsequent protests emerged, featuring threatening posters targeting Muslim traders.
