JesComTV We conclude 2023 with the Feast of the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph; and in today’s gospel, we hear the narrative of the presentation of the Child Jesus in the temple.
Based on Saint Luke’s description of the event, the family of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph can be considered devout. They followed the Law of Moses: The Child Jesus was circumcised and, as firstborn son, was “consecrated to the Lord.” They also offered a pair of birds as a sacrifice at the completion of the purification ritual. There they met Simeon and Anna who spoke highly of the Child Jesus.
Friends, as we put this year to close, let us invite our family to reflect. How did we observe God’s Word and the teachings of the Church this past year? What paths is the Lord indicating for our family to tread?
