For as long as the church has taken its stand on homosexuality, (largely after the lavender scare in 1950) the question of nature or nurture has remained. Did God make his children gay, or did they sinfully choose it? Were they born with it or did they "catch" it from someone else? There is still confusion on this topic in the church due to overconfident yet contradictory messaging. The current position acknowledges that homosexual attraction is not chosen, but still expects gay members to choose celibacy to remain in good standing. If God made some of his children gay, why would he expect them to remain alone? The answer may be the next revelatory advancement in the foot-dragging march toward accepting love as God designed it - for all.
