Growing greens: Guangzhou revives farmlands on urban fringe

The city of Guangzhou in southern China is stepping up efforts to preserve arable land. Decades of rapid industrialization has led to degradation of soil in the countryside. Meanwhile small, scattered family-run plots do not yield enough income for farmers due to a lack of scale. The government has stepped in to give the city's rural outback a "renovation": more than 500 hectares is currently being re-organized and replanted as part of the drive to boost food productivity. But as CGTN's Huang Fei discovers, agriculture isn't the only sector benefiting.
