Established in 2001, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) focuses on regional security, stability and development. Thus, it is instrumental for the security and defense exchanges featured in the Beijing Xiangshan Forum, a similar China-initiated platform to address regional security issues. How do the two mechanisms of the SCO and the Xiangshan Forum reinforce each other? How have they performed in maintaining peace and security among member nations and the region? How will the expansion of the SCO contribute to addressing regional and global issues?
