I wrote this song in 2002 after a dream I had about 9/11. I forgot the song and found it recently on my external HD and recorded it. The song is maybe not grammatically correct, but this is how I wrote it 2002.
11th of September
I woke up to the smell of new made coffee, and the noise from the television news
Was throwing the reality back to me, with the fading twilight's soft reviews
You came into the bedroom, I remember, tears were falling on the breakfast plate
The calendar showed 11th of September, and time showed I would reach my work too late
I dreamed I had the power to make the whole world see
That all the darkness within our minds is our real enemy
I rushed down to the street and grabbed a taxi, barely took the time to say goodbye
When I saw the World Trade towers stood in front of me, I was regretting that I had made you cry
My thoughts were going back to you I’d left alone, when I hurried through the entrance door
I had just left a message on your cellphone, when the elevator reached the eighty-second floor
I dreamed I had the power to show the people their foolish game
That they are in need of someone to love and someone to give the blame
My office had the smell of new made coffee, I was thinking that you'd soon retun my call
I still was hoping that you could forgive me, we are both just human beings after all
And while I waited, looking out on great Manhattan, listening to the New York City beam
I suddenly were hit by the conclusion, that I had never woke up from my dream
I dreamed I had the power to make the whole world understand
That hidden pain within our hearts is determined to expand
