Frontiers in Science: Digital Advancements and Increasing Cyber Threats
TU Dresden In the current era of digital advancements, we are confronted with a dual-edged scenario: while technological progress offers unprecedented opportunities, it concurrently presents escalating cyber threats. The lecture, delivered by renowned cybersecurity expert Prof. Haya Schulmann, dives into the evolving landscape of cyber threats, focusing specifically on two primary attack vectors: system vulnerabilities and compromised credentials. We will provide evidence of the widespread nature of these issues across various sectors in Germany using data that we collected in our studies. Using our data analyses and data collection methodologies, we were able to detect active attacks on German entities. We show that the spectrum of attacks is more diverse and extends beyond mere ransomware and data breaches. Delving into the underlying causes of these prevalent security concerns, we will discuss potential challenges and contemplate solutions for bolstering digital security in the coming years.
