Mary Magdalene is a choreographic poem for piano divided in 12 scenes and based on the poetic story by Marguerite Yourcenar.

Like Yourcenar, Magdalene experiences a wounded love, rejection, abandonment. First of a man and then of God. Innocent, pure, naive is all of her man, John the Evangelist, who on the evening of the wedding leaves her a virgin to follow God, crashing into her wedding party as a white vagabond, who communicated to young people "with a touch of the fingers, with a kiss, that horrible species of leprosy which forces them to be separated from everything", and then came to knock on her window in the long interminable moments before the unconsummated embrace.
While John flees to the Bridegroom, Magdalene flees to perdition. Prey to the shame of the unmarried wedding, she goes to give herself to the Roman centurion Mario and begins her career as a prostitute, among Jerusalem, Jaffa, Athens and Smyrna. Back in Cesarea, she hears a paralytic speak of that God, who had kidnapped John's love from her.
She seeks him out, she wants to seduce him to deprive John "of his eternal support and force him to fall back on her with all the weight of his flesh, because we sin because God does not exist: it is because nothing appears perfect to us that we are satisfied of creatures. If John had understood that God was only a man, he would no longer have had reason not to prefer my breasts to him".
Magdalene shows up at Simon the Pharisee's meeting, ready to carry out her plan of seduction and, instead, while "everyone dodges her like a woman who is constantly menstruating", only God remains seated, ready to be reached. Bowing at his feet "weary from walking on all the roads of our hell, crossing his pure eyes like the only fragments that remained of his heaven", Magdalene is seduced by that supportive God and, while she washes his hair with tears and hair, empty "the vial" of her memories.
God, like her, belongs to everyone, even if in a totally different way; like him, she too will belong to everyone, in the way that belongs to God. In fact, the moment the demons leave her, Magdalene becomes possessed by God, the lover, who accepts "the brilliant marriage of the man who loves" and his career as a Savior until Calvary.
With her crucifixion Magdalene sees herself completely emptied of God: a thief God who stole from him the love of a creature, pregnancies, motherhood, old age, a God who stole her innocence and then her sins .
"But that God who took everything from me did not give me everything. I only received a crumb of infinite love: like the first coming, I shared his heart with creatures [...] And yet he saved me. Thanks to him, of every joy I have had only its share of pain, the only inexhaustible [...] I do not regret having been remodeled by the hands of the Lord. He has not saved me from death, from evil, from crime, because it is thanks to them that he saves us. He saved me from happiness".
