The murder of Kimberly Hill by her own son, Kevin Davis, shocked the community of Corpus Christi and left many questioning how such a heinous crime could occur. The details of the murder were so brutal and gruesome that they have been etched into the memories of those who learned about the case.
In May 2014, Kevin Jazrael Davis, who was then 18 years old, lived with his mother, Kimberly Hill, and his sister, Desiree, in an apartment in Corpus Christi, Texas. Davis and his mother argued on the morning of March 27, 2014. Davis was bored and frustrated with his life, and he told his mother that he did not like people and wanted to commit suicide. Hill was caught off guard by her son's statement and allegedly told him that she could not stop him if that was what he wanted to do. According to Davis, hearing this from his mother enraged him, and he decided to take her life.
Davis attempted to strangle his mother with a cord while she was sitting on the couch in the living room, but Hill began screaming, causing Davis to panic. He retrieved a hammer and started bashing his mother's head, striking her at least 20 times, which split her skull in the process.
After that, Davis dragged his mother's lifeless body to her bedroom and r*ped her corpse. Once he finished the act, he went to a neighbor's house, confessing that he just killed someone and needed help. The neighbor dialed 911, and the police arrested Davis without incident.
At the police station, Davis made a full confession of the crime, giving details that even seasoned detectives found highly disturbing. The details of the confession showed that Davis had taken sadistic pleasure in hurting other people, and he was a serial killer in the making.
Although diagnosed with antisocial personality disorder, Davis's psychologist claimed that he knew right from wrong when he brutally murdered and raped his mother. During the investigation, the detectives found several handwritten notes that Davis had left for the police, including one that read, "Chase me. Sorry for the mess. KD."
Despite admitting to the murder and making a videotaped confession, Davis pleaded not guilty to the charges in court. He later changed his plea and smiled at the jury as they sentenced him to life in prison. He serves his time at the Jester IV facility in Richmond, Texas, and is eligible for parole in March 2044.
