Griffin is a handsome 1-year-old medium mixed-breed fellow. He came to the SFAS looking for help to find a family. Here at the shelter, Griffin has been hanging out with a foster. We have some wonderful feedback from his foster parents," We've nicknamed Griffin "the little bear cub" because of his coloring and button ears and his sweet, playful, and curious nature. Griffin likes to be involved in whatever we are doing - even if that means just being in the same room. He is content to hang out with me and one of his toys while I cook or do other work, and he seems to enjoy watching the birds outside while I garden. He only occasionally barks, but he does "talk" up a storm and wags his tail with his whole body when he sees someone he knows. He shows affection often, with nosy snuggles and a good lean - he would be a great couch date for a movie night. Sometimes, he can be a little too excited about his affection and gets playfully nippy. We are working on that as well as some basic positive reinforcement training. At times he seems anxious or maybe insecure, but after the past few weeks he seems to be gaining a little bit of confidence - I agree he would do best in a calm and patient environment. He is currently on a short rest from knee surgery, so although I haven't seen how he does with other dogs, he has been great meeting new people. I've found that chewtoys and simple puzzle toys keep him stimulated and away from chewing on shoes. He has no trouble getting groomed and is indifferent to sensitive places like his feet being touched. He is well housebroken and asks when he needs to go - he has even brought me his leash to give me the hint! He does well in a play pen and seems like he would be easily crate trained. He responds very well to tasty treats and attention, making me think he would probably do well with and benefit from further training and socialization, especially as he heals
Griffin’s adoption fee is $25. He is neutered and microchipped and has age-appropriate vaccinations. A licensing/microchip fee may apply.
