This is a portion of the debate where this was great clarity on how the gospel offers grace. And because the gospel is of grace then it can only be received by faith APART from any works. There is much discussion about if baptism is a work that we do. Often times, people will say that baptism is a work of God and NOT a work of man. However, baptism is a ceremony that Christians are commanded to participate in as an act of faith. Therefore, baptism is necessarily a sanctifying work of obedience that believers were created unto (Ephesians 2:10). Baptism is a work of God and a work of man by the Holy Spirit in sanctification.
