These verses cover a very somber and well-known event in the life of Jesus, his betrayal by Judas Iscariot. The details encompass feelings which are very moving. Judas is so universally hated because of his betrayal of Jesus that people, with very few exceptions, will not use the name of Judas for their children. These particular scriptures do not give enough detail to fully understand how heinous the sin of betrayal really is. We go into great depth here, both in recorded fact and even some very probable speculation, regarding Judas' part in the betrayal. For example, the gospels do not indicate when Judas was paid his 30 pieces of silver. However, there is enough detail available to make a logically, educated deduction as to not only when he was paid, but where he was when he was paid and who was with him at the time. There is no question that Jesus was troubled to know one his trusted and original disciples would betray him. Apparently, Judas did such a successful job at hiding his true character, that not even his brother-disciples knew it was him. Psalms 41 is used to uncover an Old Testament prophecy about this betrayal. Join me as I take you to a new level of understanding about the betrayal.
