Matthew 14:28-30 And Peter answered Him and said, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.” 29 So He said, “Come.” And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus. 30 But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!”
As long as Peter's eyes were focused on Jesus, he walked on water, despite the raging sea. God is trying to point us to the One who called us because oftentimes believers get distracted by the dreams or visions He has given, instead of keeping our eyes on the Master.
John 12:24 Most assuredly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain.
That dream or vision must die first before resurrection life manifests. Everything God gives us comes in the form of a seed, so if you are the kind of person who keeps their eyes on the dream, vision, prophecy, or whatever the Lord has told you, you will be frustrated and eventually let go.
God may not always calm the storm but He will sometimes give you what it takes to walk in the midst of it, if you keep your eyes on Him. What makes the distinction is when you operate by the God factor.
Psalms 34:5 They looked to Him and were radiant, And their faces were not ashamed.
He is our focus; the center of our living. The Master will always bail you out of what Satan throws at you as long as He is the center of all that you do. When Peter cried out to Jesus, He reached out to him. (Matthew 14:30-32)
Notice the beauty here: Peter took a step out of the boat walking into the extraordinary. Many of us have been locked in the familiarity zone; doing the same thing since the year began. Operating in the normal mode will not enable you to see the power and the mind of God in your life.
Dare God and step out! For He loves daring people. (Luke 5:17-26). That is why God told Abraham to get out of his comfort zone to see God work in and through him (Genesis 12:1-3). God can't use you while you are still operating in a normal mode. You can not play safe if you want the God factor to operate in your life.
Psalm 62:11 God has spoken once, Twice I have heard this: That power belongs to God.
A word from God is enough and it is your responsibility to hear. However, if you want to hear the voice of God and you are hearing nothing, chances are you've not yet obeyed the Lord's instruction to you.
Gideon obeyed God while trembling and so did Paul. Sometimes you will have to obey God and do it trembling but if you are waiting for the waters to settle first and then obey, then you are living carnally.
If you want an extraordinary life, you have to jump out of your skin and obey the voice of God. If you are going to walk with God, put your common sense aside and use your divine senses so that you may obey his commandments. (Deuteronomy 28:1-14)
