The latest weight loss craze surrounds prescription medications like Wegovy and Ozempic. But there other options. Allurion uses a temporary gastric balloon in combination with helping patients make lifestyle changes so they can permanently keep the weight off. Allurion Technologies Founder & CEO Dr. Shantanu Gaur tells Yahoo Finance Live that their patients "lose 30 pounds of weight or 15% of their total body weight in just four months...and they'll maintain 95% of that weight loss at one year. So, unlike these drugs, when our balloon disappears from your stomach, it's not like the weight comes right back on. But if you're taking a GLP-1 drug, the moment you stop injecting yourself, you're going to see the weight come back with a vengeance."
