The idea was straightforward enough - why can't someone just pick it up, clean it, and deliver it?
In 2014, that's exactly what happened when Rechelle Balanzat started Juliette. The app was launched, and by 2017, it had scaled to its first location. Fast forward to 2022, and there are now six locations and three brands, all nestled in the heart of New York City.
(All her other competitors? Gone.) And she's 100% self-funded.
There's a lot of strategic thought at work here. We're "'heard" NYC is a tough market. ;) but once you're successful, you have a brand that can easily scale to other markets . . . should you choose to do so.
The strategic brand play is clear, but there's also a personal element. As a New Yorker, she knows the market like the back of the hand. It's home turf. Understanding the New York mentality and lifestyle is key - New Yorkers want everything yesterday.
