True Crime Daily In this episode of Crime Watch Daily Updates: Jonathan Crupi and his wife Simeonette Mapes-Crupi looked like they had a perfect marriage. But Jonathan had a penchant for infidelity, mostly with prostitutes.
On July 5, 2012, Simeonette was found dead at their home in Staten Island, New York. She had been pushed down the stairs and stabbed 15 times. The scene was made to look as if it was a home invasion gone wrong. Investigators saw past that façade.
All fingers pointed to Jonathan. He searched online for subjects such as “how to slash throat” and other tips about cleaning up the crime scene. He was arrested in November 2012 on murder and criminal possession of a weapon charges and went to trial in July 2015. He was convicted of second-degree murder, and in September 2015 sentenced to 25 years to life in prison.
During the trial, prosecutors revealed Jonathan had sex with a prostitute named Miss Pumpkin right after killing his wife. She testified at the trial and admitted to seeing him July 5, 2012.
Jonathan appealed the verdict, saying investigators did not have enough evidence to seize his laptop and other personal belongings, but the higher court affirmed the conviction.
What’s more, after he started serving his time in prison, Jonathan created an online dating profile through a prison pen pal system, saying he wanted a “fun, intelligent girl to stimulate my brain and possibly my heart.”
