I’m retiring from the @NewNameNoah business and going to prioritize my outrage. Let’s face it, Mormonism is a statistically insignificant American cult that most people confuse for some sort of polygamist Amish splinter group. Simply put, nobody gives a rats a** about Mormonism. It peaked with the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City and will never see that kind of attention again unless it’s another 60 Minutes exposé on how dishonest they are.
But almost everyone cares about their civil rights and, as a wise man (@AmagansettPress) once said, “Rights are like muscles. If you don’t flex ‘em once in a while, you lose ‘em.”
Well our First Amendment right to a Free Press is under attack in the United States now more than ever. Donald Trump tried (unsuccessfully) to convince voters that the free press is “an enemy of the people.” Only a corrupt politician with something to hide would say such a foolish thing. It is, in fact, secrecy that is the enemy of a free society. Secrecy is the grease that lubricates the engine of corruption and the less secrecy our police and government officials have in the course of their duties the better off we will all be.
