British Movietone On this day in 1977, Jimmy Carter had his first year as president. Here is a British Movietone report from President Carter's visit to London.
President Jimmy Carter arrives at Heathrow Airport and is greeted by Prime Minister, James Callaghan. The following day, the President visited Newcastle upon Tyne and received the 'Freedom of the City'. Then it was on to a brief visit to Washington, County Durham, where Mr Carter planted a tree.
