Trump Sits for Virtual Probation Interview by New York Officers

Donald Trump will be interviewed Monday by New York probation officers whose sentencing recommendation to a judge will influence how much time, if any, he will spend behind bars after being convicted of falsifying business records, according to a person familiar with the matter.
The former president will join the probation meeting virtually from his home in Palm Beach, Florida, said the person, who declined to be identified because the details of the interview aren’t public. Trump is scheduled to be sentenced July 11 after becoming the first former US president to be found guilty of a crime.
Trump, 77, faces as long as four years in prison after being convicted on 34 counts of falsifying business records to conceal a $130,000 payment to adult-film star Stormy Daniels on the eve of the 2016 election to keep her quiet about an alleged sexual encounter. Legal experts expect he’ll serve far less time than that and may get probation only, due to his age and his status as a first-time offender.
