France braces for more riots after third night of violence over police killing of teen boy

CNA French President Emmanuel Macron has ditched the EU summit in Brussels to rush home for a crisis meeting after violence erupted in major cities for a third night. Demonstrators have been calling for justice, after police shot dead 17-year-old Nahel M during a traffic stop in the Parisian suburb of Nanterre on Tuesday. Public demonstrations were today banned in the city of Marseille. Nahel’s death has revived long-standing grievances about policing and racial profiling in France’s low-income and multi-ethnic suburbs.
