Michele Ponte Vietnam's Border With China: I crossed from China into Vietnam on foot, by using the Friendship Gate, which some call the Friendship Pass. We are in a small Vietnamese border village called Dong Dang while we are trying to reach Lang Son. The Vietnam-China border is very interesting, but kind, and nice people, could also be scammers. Okay tough, I needed a ride, so I went into the scam. There are no tourists in this area of Vietnam, it's just a place for business trade between Vietnam and China. There are many trucks passing, all carrying goods to Hanoi and Saigon. And everyone says Hello to me, probably because they have never seen white foreign travelers arriving on foot.

Friendship Pass, also commonly known by its older name Ải Nam Quan, is a pass near the China-Vietnam border, between China's Guangxi and Vietnam's Lạng Sơn Province. The pass itself lies just inside the Chinese side of the border.
