Mary Magdalene illustrates for us someone who found deep and lasting peace in following Jesus. Formerly possessed by seven demons, she was living with fear and chaos – the opposite of peace. But Jesus set her free and she followed him faithfully to the cross and the tomb and beyond. Luke 7 – 8 present four steps to finding peace: 1) come to Jesus; 2) surrender your struggles and sins; 3) commit fully to Jesus as King and; 4) become a peace-bringer. Come Sunday and be encouraged by Jesus’ open invitation: “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Matt. 11:28).
