»Anatomija ekstremističnih pripovedi: globlji vpogledi«
Zgodovina na Špici / History on the Edge
Projekt ARENAS obravnava ekstremistične pripovedi, ki vplivajo na politično in družbeno življenje v Evropi. Preučuje naravo teh pripovedi in poskuša razumeti diskurze, na katere vplivajo, zlasti o znanosti, spolu in narodu. Predavanje se poglablja v zapleteno področje ekstremističnih pripovedi, pri čemer se osredotoča na pripovedovane kontekste dogodkov, ki brišejo meje med resničnostjo in fikcijo. Ti konteksti niso le poenostavljene razlage zapletenih družbenopolitičnih vprašanj, temveč tudi predlagajo rešitve zanje. Ekstremistične pripovedi jasno opredeljujejo etično superiorno »notranjo skupino«, ki za vsako ceno upravičuje obrambo svojih interesov pred podrejeno in domnevno nevarno »zunanjo skupino«. Čeprav v pripovedih nasilje ni vedno izrecno podprto, je neredko obravnavano kot legitimno končno sredstvo. Takšne pripovedi izkoriščajo moč pripovedovanja zgodb, da čustveno okrepijo dihotomijo mi/oni, spodbujajo specifične poglede na svet in normalizirajo ideologije. Na predavanju bomo predstavili shemo, ki razčlenjuje značilnosti ekstremističnih pripovedi in osvetljuje njihovo medsebojno povezanost. Naš cilj bo uporabiti to shemo za analizo sodobnih ekstremističnih pripovedi in njihovih zgodovinskih korenin.
The Anatomy of Extremist Narratives: Deeper Insights"
The ARENAS project looks at extremist narratives that affect political and social life in Europe. It examines the nature of these narratives and seeks to understand the discourses they impact, particularly about science, gender and the nation. This seminar delves into the intricate realm of extremist narratives, focusing on narrated event contexts that blur the lines between reality and fiction. These contexts not only serve as simplified explanations for complex socio-political issues but also propose solutions to them. Extremist narratives distinctly define an ethically superior in-group, legitimizing the defense of their interests at any cost against an inferior and perceived dangerous out-group. While violence may not always be explicitly endorsed, it is viewed as a legitimate last resort. These narratives harness the power of storytelling to emotionally reinforce Us/Them dichotomies, fostering worldviews and normalizing ideologies. The seminar introduces a schema that dissects the narrative and extremist characteristics, shedding light on their interconnectedness. Our aim will be to use this scheme to analyze and detect present extremist narratives and their historical roots.
