Bassirou Diomaye Faye, who won the presidential election in Senegal on March 24, was sworn in as the country's new president and took office.
The ceremony, organized by the Constitutional Council at an exhibition center 30 kilometers from the capital Dakar, was attended by the President of Mauritania and Chairperson-in-Office of the African Union Mohamed Vild el-Gazvani, President of Nigeria and Chairperson-in-Office of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Bola Ahmed Tinubu, President of Guinea Mamady Doumbouya, President of Guinea Bissau Umaro Sissoco Embalo, President of Gambia Adama Barrow, President of Sierra Leone Julius Maada Bio and prime ministers and ministers from many African countries.
At the ceremony, Faye took the oath of office in front of the Constitutional Council and officially took office as the 5th president of Senegal.
