Italian composer Riccardo Zandonai was no stranger to attention even during his lifetime, as he was regarded as the legitimate successor to Giacomo Puccini. This did not escape the attention of the up-and-coming automobile company FIAT, which had the composer write an anthem especially for its new 509 model in 1925: "La cinquecento e Nove - Inno popolare"!
In the context of rehearsals for Riccardo Zandonai´s opera FRANCESCA DA RIMINI in 2021, our chorus director Jeremy Bines orchestrated the piece and worked it out together with baritone Thomas Lehman and the chorus and orchestra of the Deutsche Oper Berlin. We have documented a session for you together with Naxos. Enjoy!
